My Story
David Wheeler, DVM, PhD is an industry leading research scientist with over 35 years of experience. He has worked extensively in identifying, evaluating, and developing innovative therapeutics, vaccines, and immunomodulators in a wide variety of indications including extensive work in the dermatology sector. He has also worked on multiple biopharmaceutical projects aimed at discovering and licensing novel vaccines, gene therapeutics, biotherapeutics, and pharmaceuticals for both livestock and companion animals.  He is an expert in developing study models and protocols for the development of EPA, FDA, and USDA submissions.
 
Before consulting, David was a Research Fellow in Dermatology for Elanco and prior to that, held numerous senior Research Scientist positions with Elanco and Pfizer Animal Health. Some of his most notable work was that he was a member of the Apoquel® (oclacitinib) and Cytopoint® (lokivetmab) Discovery teams and was responsible for leading the Proof of Concept (POC) studies and clinical strategy for the registration of oclacitinib.  David has 4 patents and has been published in numerous publications in the areas of dermatology, parasitology, and infectious disease.
 
David holds a PhD in Anatomy and Neurobiology and a DVM from Colorado State University. He also earned an MS in Natural Resources Management and a BS in Botany and Biology from Humbolt State University. 
 
David currently resides in Southport, NC.
